Overcoming Common Barriers in Treatment

By Arena for Evidence-Based Practices (other events)

ABOUT ABOUT

Although we do our best to implement the CM modules and predict and plan for treatment success there are barriers that we often run into that can make treatment difficult and can make PLS, ABC and SMP interventions complicated. This workshop will target two common barriers:

(1) Chronic marijuana use: It takes weeks for a youth with chronic use to test clean. This can be a barrier to the rewards plan. We will discuss some ways to overcome this barrier to maintain treatment momentum.

(2) House Arrest: Many youth coming into treatment are involved with juvenile justice. It is common for these youth to have probation imposed curfew or house arrest. We'll discuss how this can be a barrier to skill development, ABC, PLS and SMP and ways to overcome this barrier.
